Equine Therapy Partner

Mercedes is an Equine Therapy Partner and has been working with an EAGALA team for the last two years. She has been involved with horses since she was nine years old when she began showing English Saddleseat and has a strong interest in the cultural connection between horses and Native people. Mercedes is currently a student at the University of Minnesota majoring in American Indian Studies and is a board member of the American Indian Student Cultural Center on campus. She also works with Native students in Shakopee Schools. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, traveling and playing with her Australian shepherd, Flynn. Mercedes is also a member of the Shakopee Mdewakanton Community and the Lac Courte Oreilles Band of Ojibwe
